Recognize that Chiari Malformation is a debilitating disorder that is disabling.

We are asking that serious consideration be given to adding Chiari Malformation to Social Security's list of "Automatic Qualifiers". Chiari is a malformation of the cerebral tonsils and results in a herniation of the brain. Its affects are devestating. Though the Chiari Community is becomng more united in making our cause known, medically speaking, we are still often, undiagnosed, misdiagnosed, or worse..untreated because of a lack of both knowledge in the medical field and lack of insurance. Countless sufferers of this illness were once insured, productive and self sufficient members of society. Now, due to the effects of this illness many are left unemployed, uninsured, and untreated. We are asking that Chiari Malformation be added to the Social Security Disability Blue Book.
