Taiwan has the historical right to the Diaoyu islands. Maps from the Ming dynasty in both Japan and China show the Diaoyu islands as part of China. Under the Potsdam treaty, the Republic of China (Taiwan) has the right to determine which minor islands belong to it following World War II.
It is unreasonable for the United States to take an unjust role in unilaterally declaring that these islands which are closer to Taiwan be part of Okinawa Prefecture.
The United States should take the position that the Diaoyu islands belong to the Republic of China (Taiwan)
