Gender Dysphoria should not be viewed as a problem solvable by experimental surgeries with no promise of success. Hormone therapy shortens the lives of "transgendered" people and raises the risk of many cancers.
Young children and teenagers are encouraged to embrace their identities but it should be clearer that wanting to modify their body is risky and can damage their ability to have sex or procreate for life. Many gender dysphoric teenagers grow out of the dysphoria altogether once they reach adulthood, but such things are rarely researched or mentioned.
The government should view the topic of Gender Dysphoria as that of a mental illness, allowing these individuals to get the help they need through therapy and safer means than surgery that only makes them look like the opposite sex.
