The recent story of the transracial, Rachel Dolezal, has brought forward the relevant issue of transracial rights. Currently today people who identify with a race that is not what they were originally born as have no protections under civil rights laws to identify with their self identified race and even worse the sometimes prohibitive cost of transition treatments prevents them from reaching full self-actualization. To correct this we call on the Obama administration to deal with transracial rights and push for reforms that will allow them legal recognition and provide them the much needed benefits they deserve under federal healthcare laws. It is time for the injustice to end.
