Juneteenth has been celebrated for more than a century in the African-American community as its own sort of Independence Day. For the most part it has stayed in that community and mores the pity. June 19th, 1865 marked the end of an era of human rights nightmares and began America's transformation into the world's model for rights and freedoms.
