The Kurds have been one of the, if not the only, groups of people successfully fighting ISIS in Syria and the Middle East. since ISIS' rise to power. They have been one of our staunchest allies in the region and have brought freedom and liberty to ISIS controlled regions in Syria.
While Turkey is an ally to the US, it is becoming apparent that President Erdogan is not. In light of Turkey's failed coup, Erdogan's alleged ties to ISIS and the Muslim Brotherhood, and Turkey's recent military actions against Kurdish controlled areas: It is essential the US recognize the Kurd's claim to sovereignty, dignity and liberty immediately. Not just for the Kurds, but for stability in the region and to check the growing despotism implemented by Erdogan.
