Lavar Burton and Reading Rainbow has taught the importance and fostered a love of reading in children from 1983 to 2009 and is now being brought back for today's children and classrooms. This program was an important and cherished part of the lives of hundreds of thousand children over the past 31 years and one of the few trusted and quality educational programs both parents and children can rely on.
With Lavar's recent efforts to bring Reading Rainbow back with apps and online tools to classrooms in need across the country, the President and nation should recognize and celebrate his and Reading Rainbow's contributions to education and literacy in America over the past 31 years.
