Our government does not recognize as wartime service any military action from the end of the Vietnam War (1975) to the beginning of Desert Shield (1990) There were over 2 dozen military operations during this time, but 4 for which we are requesting recognition. We feel that the attempted hostage rescue in Iran (1980), the Marine deployment to Beirut, Lebanon (1982-84), the operation in Grenada ('83), and the invasion of Panama ('89-90), should all be recognized by our country, our government and the VA as war time/combat service. ALL of these events resulted in the deaths of American troops in action against enemies of our Country. The men and women who answered our Nation's call deserve recognition as wartime veterans and to be eligible for the awards and benefits we feel they deserve.
