Recognize the petition for Texas to secede from the United States.

Texas clearly does not wish to remain a part of the United States, judging by the 100,000 signatures on its existing petition requesting the right to secede. Texas ranks near the bottom of all states in prenatal care for mothers and mental health care for children, and near the top in violent crime rate, childhood obesity rate, STD rate, and a number of other negative statistics. This is not to mention the state GOP platform's rejection of critical thinking in schools because it "undermines parental authority," and the same platform's assertion that homosexuality "tears at the fabric of society and contributes to the breakdown of the family unit." In order to become a healthier, smarter, more tolerant nation, we must allow Texas to leave the United States and become an independent country.
