Every year, there are millions of animals put to sleep as a result of pet overpopulation. Commercials, posters, and other media strongly encourage pet owners to spay/neuter their pet. However, many are not swayed, and those who do their part go unrecognized.
This proposal is meant to reward those who show responsibility in undertaking the raising of the animals we allow to live and share life's moments. It encourages responsible pet ownership as well as provides a potential boost to our economy.
PROPOSAL
Allow households to claim up to 3 pets as a "Pet Dependents" on the federal tax return
CRITERIA
- MUST include the following information: Animal Name, Species, License #, Total # of Pets in Household
- MUST show proof of spay/neuter or show Breeder's License AND Breeding Record
