The United States recognized the Republic of China (Taiwan) as the one and only China from its founding till 1979 even though through most of those last decades of recognition it only controlled the island of Taiwan. In 1979 the United States it switched its recognition of all of China to the larger Peoples Republic of China which is the communist nation residing on the mainland. Neither country has ever controlled "all" of China. They are separate countries and they have been since the Chinese Civil War ended in 1949. Neither China deserves not to be recognized as the respective separate countries that they are. Obama, you need to officially recognize Taiwan as the full independent state that it is, and establish full relations including an embassy immediately or as soon as you can.
