Sealand is a tiny artificial island off the coast of the U.K. It fits every requirement to be a country (print their own money, have sovereignty, clear borders,etc....) The one requirement it does not have is recognition by other countries. It was originally part of the United Kingdom when Paddy Roy Bates bought it. He then declared it a country. While no country acknowledges it as being a sovereign state, there was an instance when a court declared it as not being park of the United Kingdom. When a ship got too close to the island and the head of the island fired a warning shot, the U.K did not do anything because they claimed that Sealand was outside their jurisdiction. Sealand deserves to be recognized as a state!
