Recognize the significance of Arctic methane, as a national security & climate change threat & take action accordingly

Created by J.S. on March 20, 2014

Methane hydrate in the Arctic represents a clear and present danger as both an accelerator of climate change ad global warming, as well as a great potential threat for catastrophic sudden release under warming Arctic conditions, creating the conditions for a natural disaster of epic proportions if any kind of ignition event occurred, natural or otherwise. The US Geological Survey is perpetrating serious disinformation in this regard that needs to stop, and a coherent plan to assess the full nature and scope of this threat needs to be established as a first order priority. The potential for catastrophic Arctic methane release is coming at us like a runaway freight train and we're way past time for a serious assessment and action plan. Federal agencies need to be tasked accordingly.
