We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

Recognize "Single Parent's Day" as a national holiday to honor single parents in America.

Created by C.R. on June 19, 2016

There is an unprecedented rise in single parents in America. Parents having to take on the role of both mother and father in the lives of their children has become THREE TIMES more copious since the 1970s, causing parents to raise children with only one source of income in an economy that works against them. The increase in costs of living and the decrease in the value of our nation's dollar proves for an increasingly difficult role as a parent. A role difficult enough with two people, let alone just one. Single parents are strong and courageous and deserve the same recognition given to mothers on Mother's Day and fathers on Father's Day. Their numbers are only increasing and I feel it's about time we show our appreciation to the men and women raising up our future adults by themselves.
