The so-called "Donetsk People's Republic" and "Luhansk People's Republic" are pro-Russian separatist groupings supported by Russia.
Some of their militants are local people deceived by the Russian propaganda but most of them are Russian "volunteers" and regular soldiers.
Russia supplies "DPR" and "LPR" with the weaponry, artillery, armoured vehicles and soldiers.
Around 5,000 people have been already killed in Donbass.
On 17 July 2014 they downed MH17 with The Buk missile system from Russia and 298 innocent people died as a result.
On 13 January 2015 the "DPR" militants killed 12 civilians in a bus near Volnovakha by shelling, using Russian BM-21 Grad.
