recognize Taiwan as a sovereign nation by meeting with the President of Taiwan either in Taiwan or at the White House.

Taiwan has been an important economic and cultural partner to the United States for decades. The United States as a strong sovereign nation should not let itself be bullied into submission by China to choose which countries it should support or not support. While the United States recognizes horrible regimes as legitimate countries such as Cuba, North Korea, Syria, etc, they refuse to pay respect and recognize the government and people of Taiwan who are an important ally. President Obama should pride himself on leading the country, not in the easiest way, but in the most ethical way. Recognizing Taiwan sends a strong message to the world that the United States always stands by those who support democracy and peace, and will never be bullied to do otherwise.
