A well functioning government is accountable to the citizens for sound financial pursuits and for upholding civil liberties; however when transparency lacks, so does accountability and trust. Recognizing that sharing potentially embarrassing information is not detrimental to long term national security, Mr. Drake utilized the press to bring additional transparency to one government organization's spending and usurpation of power. Transparency fortifies checks and balances and enables minor course corrections which are good for America.
