The Westboro Baptist Church should not be recognized as a religion because of their small size. They are not supported by any similar religions in the country and have been completely separated from the Christian and Catholic churches. They focus mainly on hate speech and causing more grief to grieving families.
They should not be allowed to picket at or near funerals.
Our government needs to pass a federal law prohibiting the act of picketing at funerals. Funerals are private and meant for the living to mourn their dead. There is no reason to picket a funeral as it is extremely unnecessary and disruptive toward the grieving families of the deceased.
