The loss of Service and Medical records for Combat Veterans has been a problem that has plagued the U.S. military for centuries but perhaps never more than the 1990 Gulf War.
Additionally, the loss of field records — after-action write-ups and other day-to-day accounts from the war zones — combine to make efforts by soldiers with lost records, unable to claim benefits.
The Army's first action was to try and establish a pattern of those affected: What units were they in? ... What operations were they engaged in?" The answers provided by investigators: 'We don't know. We didn't keep our records."
Your support of this petition will urge congress to take responsibility and deliver the benefits for which these soldiers so willingly sacrificed. Twenty years is too long.
