recommend amending the Constitution to require Congress to be of average intelligence to serve.

Created by R.L. on January 23, 2013

We believe the Obama Administration should use its influence with Congress to amend Article I, Section 2 of the Constitution to require congressional candidates to pass the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Citizenship Test and be of average intelligence (IQ greater than 70 or another measure determined by Congress) to serve as members of the Senate or House of Representatives.

The American taxpayer is being represented by lawmakers regularly displaying an astonishing lack of basic science and math skills as well as a blatant disregard for, or misunderstanding of, the Constitution and functions of government they purport to serve.

Our politicians may not be the best and brightest of our nation, but let us please require more of them than only age and residency.
