Recommend the appointment of Vin Scully to the post of United States Poet Laureate.

Created by M.R. on April 15, 2013

For 64 years, Vincent Edward "Vin" Scully has provided play-by-play commentary for the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team. He is the longest-serving announcer in professional sports history, and he has provided the soundtrack to some of American sports' most historic and unforgettable moments. Among his many awards, Scully has been dubbed the Sportscaster of the Century.

Throughout his career, Scully has charmed and delighted generations of Americans with his wit, humor, humility, and poetic phrases. He is truly the greatest living symbol of America's greatest pastime, and his cultural influence cannot be overstated.

We request that the White House recommend to the Librarian of the U.S. Congress the appointment of Scully to the position of United States Poet Laureate.
