The Replacements' 1985 album "Tim" should be placed in the National Recording Registry, by the National Recording Preservation Board to be preserved in the Library of Congress. The National Recording Registry is a list of sound recordings that "are culturally, historically, or aesthetically important, and/or inform or reflect life in the United States." The song "Left of the Dial" from the album "Tim" is the forerunner of college radio, the album was placed 136th on Rolling Stone's 2003 list of the 500 greatest albums of all time and became a crucial template for grunge, and alternative music. The collection of songs exemplify the life of the American teenager/young adult in more depth than any album before or since in the history of Rock music.
