Recommend to the UN General Assembly the Adoption of a Resolution Backing the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child

Created by T.T. on February 05, 2014

On January 31, 2014, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child issued findings related to the Holy See's handling of numerous allegations and instances of child sexual abuse worldwide. The report concluded that efforts had been taken by the Holy See to conceal instances of child sexual abuse from law enforcement agencies. Recommendations were made to the Holy See to reform their procedures when such allegations occur, with implementation suggested by 2017.

The United States should propose a resolution in the UN General Assembly that, if such measures are not fully implemented by the Holy See by 2017, the United Nations will impose diplomatic and economic sanctions on the Holy See, up to and including the freezing of the Holy See's assets held within UN member states.
