Push SECDEF to reconsider awarding Sergeant Rafael Peralta the Medal of Honor for actions in Fallujah in 2004. Sergeant Peralta was denied the MOH twice by Gates & Panetta for "doubt" of his actions.
7 Marines attest the mortally wounded Peralta pulled a grenade under his chest, shielding them. A Navy Cross was awarded for his heroic last act--fact not disputed. Why the Cross but not MOH?
“The grounds for the Medal of Honor is two eyewitnesses.. the words of those Marines in that room...whose lives were saved by Rafael Peralta—that they’re able to testify to this because they’re alive.. that’s enough for me..The autopsy report can’t tell you what a person does under extreme duress.. in a combat situation..men do a lot of crazy stuff..for their buddies.” - Congressman Duncan Hunter
