Currently, all branches of the military allow women considerably more freedom with hairstyle. I propose that the U.S. Army lead the way to true equality setting a single standard for personal appearance. With exception for significant biological differences, one soldier should be allowed the same freedom in appearance choices as another. As long as there are different rules for soldiers of different sexes or races, there is not equality. The likely outcome for such a change would be male soldiers with long hair or female soldiers with 'crew cuts'. Either way, equal is equal, it's not a subjective issue.
