Reconsider changes to AR 670-1 to allow hairstyles other than the “High and Tight”.

Created by D.P. on April 02, 2014

More than 87% of personnel serving in the military are males. Males with natural hair take strides to style their natural hair in a professional manner when necessary; however, changes to AR 670-1 offer little to no options for males. In the proposed changes, unauthorized hairstyles include mohawks, and a hairstyle known as “The Teardrop”. This limits males with natural hair into a handful of authorized hairstyles. These new changes are gender biased and the lack of regard for hair is apparent. This policy needs to be reviewed prior to publishing to allow for neat and maintained natural hairstyles.
