Earlier this month, a petition to formally recognize BLM as a terrorist organization was signed by over 140,000 of my fellow Americans. In response, the We the People Team responded that the US government has no ability to declare any organization as a terrorist force. While that is true at this time, there is no reason why Congress cannot pass legislation on internal terrorism. (Note: the INA section 219 provides for foreign terror organizations). BLM has engaged in violent resistance to police actions in the past several years, culminating in the fatal shootings of officers in Dallas and Baton Rouge, and others soon to come. As a group, BLM has killed more American citizens than several FTO's. The KKK has killed 3446. Why not address internal terror the same was as outside terror?
