While women should be allowed to serve in the military, allowing women to serve on the front lines creates numerous unintended consequences.
1) Physical differences. Currently the maximum physical requirements for women are barely the minimum required for men. When soldiers are put into combat, they want all soldiers to have a similar physical capability. Allowing women to serve on the front lines without raising the physical readiness standards undermines that philosophy.
2) Emotional differences. Men are "programmed" to protect women. In combat, where every soldier should be considered the same importance, men will instinctively protect the women and in doing so, make decisions that under normal circumstances he might not have made.
