With the understanding that serving one’s country is an honor and not a privilege, we the people petition the White House to reconsider the issue of pay raises to Senators and Members of Congress when there is a deficit of more than 3% GDP. We the people find it disgusting that our elected officials would choose to increase their pay while they grossly neglect their responsibility to maintain a strong economy. In addition, we petition that in the event there is a national deficit of more than 3% GDP, all current Senators and Members of Congress as well as the President, receive a 50% decrease in pay until the time that the deficit is decreased sufficiently to stabilize the economy and the national deficit is below 3% GDP.
