Legal Resident Aliens lose their residency if they stay out of the country for more than a year. I believe that if someone has gone through the whole process to gain a legal resident alien status, and has had to go back to their native homeland for over a year and has lost their residency, should have special consideration, making it fast and easy for them to recover their Legal alien resident permit, since it is a claim to something that has already been awarder to them by the U.S. government. Please consider how many residents sometimes need to attend relatives or family issues outside the U.S. and sometimes tracking them a few years to be able to return, losing their status as legal resident aliens.
