Attempts at identifying, equipping and training viable indigenous forces in failed nation states such as Syria and Iraq have been conspicuous failures. Jewish and Christian minority populations in these failed states are being persecuted, tortured and murdered; and their churches, cemeteries, and archaeological heritage are being violated and desecrated.
While there may no longer be public support for attempts at so-called nation building, there surely must be great disgust and anger over the barbarity that is occurring. Rather than continuing to expend money and materiel on dubious native groups with questionable commitment and motivation, let us consider establishing, equipping and funding a humanitarian peace keeping force of volunteers comprised of US military and veterans.
