Frequency and severity of mass shooting events are escalating regarding locale and vulnerability of victims. Though many factors contribute to such events, this petition focuses on the media-dependent motive by perpetrator to create an "unprecedented" stain on society. In addition to focusing on gun controls and mental illness, we must recognize publicity as an actionable pillar. We must act to prevent disturbed individuals among us who might be considering, capable of, or planning similar activities in an effort to be noticed by society, or engineer circumstances of an infamous death. They must never be known to society.
