This petition would only affect firearms which have a magazine/cartridge for feeding ammunition into the firing chamber. This does not impact those firearms without this type of feeding mechanism. Due to the nature of being able to store multiple rounds of ammunition, it is possible for the firearm to be used in a manner as to disperse multiple rounds into an intended target (or targets). Because this type of weapon can inflict harm to large numbers of people (for example), this type of weapon is, by definition, a weapon of mass destruction (WMD). Therefore, we call upon the President of the United States to enact legislation to redefine these types of firearms as WMDs with all of the restrictions and penalties for use of these weapons.
