Redefine the 'beginning of life' as conception, reflecting modern understanding, and protect a fetus' right to life.

Created by S.B. on November 01, 2011

Through the miracles of modern medicine and technology, we have made many discoveries in the last few decades in respect to fetal development. Pregnancies can be detected earlier than ever before, and a developing baby can now be seen and heard in incredible ways. Through these new technologies, we have seen that a functioning and developing embryo/fetus is not "tissue," but a human being from conception. The U.S. needs to recognize these new findings and define a developing embryo/fetus at any point as human. This being said, every American citizen is entitled to the rights and liberties outlined in the Constitution, therefore, a fetus should be protected under the same laws as well. Every American has the right to life, a fetus from the moment of conception should as well.
