The current state of copyright protection laws favor those who hold both the copyright, and those who have high amounts of money. Copyright was originally established long before the internet was born.
However since 2000 and even before then with the birth of the internet, copyright has struggled or in some cases refused to catch up to the modern world.
With Megaupload, copyright holders were able to shut down a massive sharing site that many people used, all on the basis that it was "suspected" of being a haven for pirated and copyrighted material.
These laws favor only one side of the conflict, and should in fact be both fair and equal to ALL involved.
The bigger issue is that copyright is also stifling creativity and freedom of speech by average people.
