The U.S government should redeploy active duty soldiers along the U.S/Mexican border to bolster the ineffective security currently in place. Homeland Security and the U.S Border Patrol are understaffed and ill equipped to effectively control the migration of illegal aliens and drugs coming into the U.S.
This has placed U.S citizens owning land along the border helpless to watch their properties being exploited by drug cartels in smuggling both drugs and people into the U.S.
With increasing intelligence that the cartels are aligning with groups (Iranian, etc) hostile to the U.S., it is clear that the border has become potentially more dangerous to U.S. security than any border in Afghanistan/Pakistan.
Mexico is incapable of control on their side. Politics should be set aside.
