The Electoral College was a practical system before the wired age, when states had to send college members to Washington to cast votes for their populations. The only thing requiring the slate to vote as the majority requested is moral integrity, however. The technology exists now that we can accurately and securely count the popular vote instantly, and we should take advantage of that by using the popular vote to decide our elections.
This government is supposed to grow and change with the inhabitants and our technology, we should not cling to the flawed systems of the past just out of precedence. We need to adapt and improve.
