Currently, all U.S. dollar bills are the same size, resulting in potential difficulties for blind Americans to distinguish banknotes as easily as they may coins, which have different sizes and edge textures.
Many countries worldwide have redesigned their currency to be more accessible to blind users by adding braille imprints on corners or cutting lower-value banknotes at smaller sizes than larger-value banknotes. It is about time the United States implemented a similar system so that blind users may more easily pay for daily expenses.
In order to have a more democratic process to redesign the U.S. dollar, we also petition the government to hold an open design contest, from which the winning design shall be chosen.
