On February 18, 1930 an American astronomer, Clyde W. Tombaugh, discovered Pluto and it was accepted as the ninth planet of the solar system. On August 24, 2006 the International Astronomical Union designated Pluto as a, "dwarf planet." We feel this was not done as a matter of science but as a swipe at America during the height of the anti-American sentiment in Europe during the war in Iraq. We would have Pluto renamed a planet and have it be the cut-off point of what constitutes a planet. Even if that means adding other celestial objects as planets in our solar system. Further the U.S. should discontinue federal funding any research by any group, organization or entity that does not accept Pluto as a proper planet in the solar system.
