Redirect 8% of the military budget to funding for public schools

The government is spending roughly 600 billion dollars annually on the military, compared to about 70 billion annually on public education. If we diverted 8% (roughly 48 billion) of the military budget to educational purposes, we could increase the current education budget by nearly 2/3. With increased funds, schools could make progress in paying their teachers fair wages, offering a wide variety of classes, and keeping their buildings up to the safety code.
