redouble it's efforts to improve it's policy towards mental health as an initial compromise in gun control.

Created by D.D. on February 01, 2013

Although gun control is a highly complex issue with no clear solution, we do not have to deal with all of it's issues at once. Mental illnesses and diseases are a huge problem in our society, and both sides can agree that violent, mentally ill people are a threat when equipped with any sort of gun.For this reason we ask that while the future of gun control is being decided, congress should immediately pass laws reforming mental health care by:

A: Making strict mental health screenings mandatory for the purchase of all firearms anywhere.

B: Providing more federal aid in the treatment of mental illness.

and C: Providing a more consistent system for identifying those with severe mental disorders.

We ask that you consider the lives which could have been saved through these simple measures.
