Valedictorians are extremely academic individuals. They stay up past midnight almost every day completing homework from 3 or more different classes. That's besides study guides for upcoming tests and projects. To be an outstanding student in our educational system one should NOT have to be bombarded with daily homework that keeps up a student at night. Not only is it unhealthy but also not effective. Teachers assign more homework on a daily basis that they don't even grade. They just look over it and if it looks completed than the student gets a grade. But if it is not he gets a zero. This sort of system does not determine a students ability to comprehend curriculum but it only tells you which students were interested enough for a teachers judgement to stay up all night.
