It is for this purpose and in the best interest of the citizens of the United States that all US permanent residents have the time reduced to become naturalized citizens from the current and lengthy 5 years to 3 years. Permanent residents have contributed greatly to society, they have paid their fair share of taxes and are responsible and law abiding residents of this nation.
