To adequately represent the common people, members of Congress should also participate in benefit and pay reduction. No longer can the United States support or justify better benefits and pay standards for elected public servants when compared to the average worker.
Benefits reduction should include:
- Paying for private insurance available in his or her state of residence.
- Paying for his or her gym memberships.
- Reducing vacation time to 2 weeks.
- Termination of pensions and accepting a 401k type plan.
- A 10% reduction in pay.
