Current Canadian restrictions require a U.S. citizen to be a permanent resident of Canada for between 5 to 6 years to become a citizen of Canada, and thus, enabling the U.S. citizen to expatriate from the U.S. Given the current political environment in the United States this time span is unreasonable and should be reduced for those U.S. citizens trying to escape the U.S. before Mr. T is inaugurated.
