Reduce Congress pay to help balance the budget and reduce the deficit. Create legislation to lower Congress pay.

Created by J.V. on December 14, 2012

Enact legislation which to reduce Congressional pay for both the House and Senate. Prevent Congress from voting on their own pay. Set each members annual salary equal to their represented States' median household income as defined by the US Census.

This will save, in one year alone, $11,159,676.00 for the Senate and $48,569,796.00 for the House, a combined save of $59,729,472.00. This will save the country, in total, $0.59 Billion by 2023.

This will incentivize to Congress to pass legislation to raises the median household income levels in their state. Congress is being over paid today. If this was a law today the median household income in the US would be $174,000! That's $111,997.00 more per family a year.

It is time to get the United States Congress to work for the People!
