I feel like Congress is not working at a level that deserves $170,000+ a year per congressman. With how much they are asking donations from us, they probably don't need it anyway. When so many Americans are below the poverty line, the people in charge should also feel the sting.
Our taxes pay their salary. We elect them to office. We are their bosses. Considering we can't easily fire them for their incompetence, we demand that they live on what the rest of us do. The money saved should go to one of veteran assistance programs that they are trying to cut.
