Many people in the United States are currently denied Constitutional rights simply because of where they live.
As you have stated that you are aware, many crimes in your own city of Chicago are committed with "cheap handguns." This is because it is illegal to carry handguns in Illinois; only criminals have them. There is no deterrent to crime. If citizens were armed, these crimes would go down.
This is the only legal thing to do as well since the US Constitution acknowledges our right to keep and bear arms.
This petition is that the Federal Government grant both the right to keep(own and possess) and bear(carry on or about our person) arms to ALL US citizens - regardless of city or state - who can pass current Federal purchasing restrictions(ATF form 4473 and background check).
