Since the year 2000, the Defense Department budget has almost doubled from $400 billion to $700 billion dollars.
Today we are facing a dire economic situation. In response to the crisis, politicians are considering cuts to Social Security and Medicare, programs that are vital to senior citizens as well as the economy.
Therefore, we ask that the Defense Department budget be cut to preserve Social Security and Medicare.
