Reduce the deficit by cutting pay and benefits for Congress.

Created by C.S. on February 16, 2013

Congress members currently receive $174,000 per year. They also make money from lobbyists and insider trading (insider trading is something the rest of Americans get arrested for).

They get 239 days off per year, which is obviously a part-time schedule. Nowhere else in America can someone work part-time and still receive pension or health care benefits. Cut their health care and pensions. The rest of the federal government has to do the Thrift Savings Plan, it should be sufficient if they care to pay into it.

Instead of the sequester and cutting funds from parts of the government where work actually gets done, cut the funding for Congress. The American taxpayers want their (shrinking amount of) moneys worth.
